MISSION STATEMENT
Section 1. The mission of the Pawtuxet Valley Preservation and Historical Society is to preserve the history of, and promote public knowledge and interest in, the Pawtuxet Valley through conservation, research, education and outreach.
The Society takes particular interest in the history and culture of textile manufacturing as it developed and flourished in the villages of the Pawtuxet Valley, an area of central Rhode Island through which flows the Pawtuxet River, both northern and southern branches inclusive.
These villages are vital remnants of the Valley’s important contribution to the industry and labor of Rhode Island, New England and the United States from the late 18th century through the mid 20th centuries. The Society believes that the historical preservation of these remnants illuminates the present and gives vision for the future.
