Turret gunner on a B-24 Liberator based in Italy.
On Roland first mission his plane, named Tenmenbak,
went down after enduring heavy enemy fire and he died in Slovakia.
He was the only one of that ten men crew who perished.
He graduated from West Warwick High School in 1939.
He left a wife and a baby son.
There is a memorial to him in Slovakia on a hillside where the plane went down. The towns people
still tend to this memorial daily by placing flowers there, it is a wonderful tribute to a man whom they never met.
