- ANOTHER SENSATION
Three Suspicious Persons Arrested at Jackson Last Night.
For the last forty-eight hours many of the residents of the Valley have been frightened over the rumor that three suspicious persons were wandering about, and a number of the local police have been on the lookout, as it was surmised that the mysterious persons may have been the parties who entered the store of James FISH at Pontiac on Monday Nov. 21.
Town Sergeant Nathan COLVIN of Scituate was informed that the three men were busy asking questions in regard to many of the prominent business men's residences and it claimed that one of the parties is a burglar who has done time for breaking and entering.
Last Evening the three men were observed by Detective COLVIN, spying about various stores and residences of prominent persons in Jackson and Fiskville; and being quickly summoned the three persons were arrested and locked up for the night.
This morning the trio were closely questioned by Mr. COLVIN, and as no case could be made out against them, the parties, agreeing to leave the State, were given their liberty.
Two of them claimed to be weavers in search of work, while the other stoutly claimed that he was a loom-fixer and had been out of a job for several weeks.
