February Monthly Meeting 2009 February Monthly Meeting 2009 Geroge Flynn

The guest speaker at our meeting was George FLYNN. His topic was about a local artist, Emile TRAHAN.

Mr. Trahan was born in Alburg, Vermont, a son of the late Emile J. and Georgiana (Choquette) Trahan. He was a resident of West Warwick before moving to Cranston 38 years ago. Mr. Trahan graduated from New Bedford High School in 1940 and after graduation he was employed at The Bread Bakery and Aerovox both in New Bedford. After moving to RI he worked at Esmond Mills, Paramount Greeting Cards, U.S. Army Map Service at Fields Point and West Warwick., Atlantic Engraving, Dieges & Clust and retired in 1992 after 23 years at Herff Jones Company, designers of High School and College rings. He also did freelance art work doing sports drawings for the Pawtuxet Valley Dailey Times in the 1950’s. His wife, Mabel, of whom he was married for 49 years, was in attendance who provided many of his art work for us to look at. Mabel said he would often draw from memory and his love for people and events were demonstrated in his artwork.
