David BETTENCOURT, A member of the faculty at the University of Rhode Island,
spoke about the feature-lenght documentary that he is producing about the history of Rocky Point Amusement Park.
He has gathered photographs taken during the parks' heyday, as well as some inside the now ruined buildings;
interviewed people who worked or lived there; and collected memorabilia relating to activities at the Park.
The film is titled You Must Be This Tall: The Story of Rocky Point Park.
Plans are to preview the movie in September at the Stadium Theater in Woonsocket.
A fundraiser to help defray the costs will take place on Saturday, February 24, at 8:00 PM at Patrick's Pub, 381 Smith Street, in Providence.
It's an all-you-can-eat buffet of Rocky Point favorites - chowder, clamcakes, and corn on the cob. Tickets are $20.
If you have access to the Web and want to know more about the project,
go to Rocky Point Park Movie and browse the different sites. You will find them very interesting.
