November Monthly Meeting 2006
November 2006 meeting: Guest Speaker – Robert NERO
Robert NERO, chairman of the Pawtuxet River Authority and Watershed Council, was our speaker. The following are a few of the numerous projects the organization has been previously, or is currently, involved in:
- The Arkwright to Harris River-Walk and the Phenix to Harris River- Walk, popular trails along the north branch of the River, will soon be re-unified, and best of all, the new owners of the property located between the two River-Walks has agreed to pay for the improvements.
- In Arkwright a wooden boardwalk has been completed on part of the railbed along the north branch of the River that was purchased from the Penn Central Railroad.
- Clean-up along the river is an ongoing project.
- The Hill Street entrance to the Arkwright to Harris to Phenix River-Walk has been renovated and beautified.
- PRAWC has been awarded a grant from the RI Foundation to select and design an “urban river access” to the River and has selected a site in Pontiac Village on which the project will be built.
