March Monthly Meeting 2004

March 2004 Monthly Meeting Irene Blais
Our speaker for this evening was Irene BLAIS from the Museum of Work and Culture, which is located at Market Square, 42 South Main Street, in Woonsocket, the site of textile mills, first theBarni Worsted Company, and later the Lincoln Textile Company. Irene Blais
Ms. BLAIS told the story of the French-Canadian immigrants who left the farms of Quebec to come to work in the factories of New England. The museum's focus is on this group but it also mirrors the story of millions of others who left their native land for a new life in America. Visitors will see exhibits which portray their lives as they adjust to their new surroundings.
